Well, Ms. Universe 2005 came and went and I'm happy to congratulate Ms. Canada, Natalie Glebova, on her victory. To all my readers in Canada, I extend an extra special congratulation to you all.
It was nice to see that this years competition was dominated by Latin America, with Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Dominican Republic making up the remainder of the Top 5. The evening wear segment was irie, with some beautifully-crafted evening gowns on display. The swimsuit segment was not so great IMHO, with Ms. USA looking like she ate just a tad bit too much Thai food before the competition. Ms. Canada definately had the tightest body of them all, so I give her props for that segment. Overall, Pebbles and I predicted fairly well who was going to be the winner, though we had said Puerto Rico would take it home (she was second runner up).
The interview section was a complete disaster and I strongly disagree with having the contestants write questions which are then chosen at random by their competitors. To be honest, some questions just didn't make sense, and the answers were even more disappointing. since 4 out of the 5 finalists spoke Spanish as their native language, one could argue that commenting in English was a hindrance, but based on their initial interviews, none of the contestants seemed to have any problems expressing their thoughts in English. Once again, Canada seemed to perform best in this segment.
Now you tell me people, is it just me or are all these competitors getting taller and skinnier as the years go by? I mean, most of the women who made it into the Top 10 were 5'11" or taller (except Ms. USA and Ms. Philippines). I mean, these girls be getting too tall and to skinny and they really starting to look like aliens for true! No wonder the competition name Ms. Universe!!!
And on another note, who the hell tell Carson from Queer Eye For The Straight Guy that he qualified to judge a women's competition. Though as Pebbles said, he's probably the ideal judge, since he has a heightened sense of detail and style (some sort of way) and he won't be blinded by the big booty and nices tittays on many of these young ladies!
Anyhow, enough of my commentary on Ms. Universe, I gone to bed! Be sure to feed the comment box now, you hear!
